DAVIS COUNTY, Utah, Jan. 11, 2023 (Gephardt Daily) — People in parts of Davis County who tried to get some sleep early Tuesday night barely got a chance to get into REM sleep, especially those who live east of Bountiful, before they woke up. of the 2.8-magnitude earthquake at 9:50 p.m

Hundreds of people reported feeling or hearing the mild quake, which the USGS said was centered 10 miles southwest of Henefer, about 4.7 miles below the surface.

Within hours, locals submitted 60 “Did you feel it” reports to the USGS, while dozens took to social media to find out if neighbors had been “shocked” in the night.

“Yes. I’m in Bountiful East,” one Facebook user wrote. “It was like a big blob in my place. I wish it was a plow.”

“I thought it was a helicopter or a snowplow, lol, then I got the notification,” another Facebook user wrote.

“I felt it. Flashbacks from a few years ago,” said a third.

This flashback is likely from a magnitude 5.7 earthquake that rocked northern Utah on the morning of March 18, 2020.

In this case, homes and buildings shook from one end of the Salt Lake Valley to the other, with people feeling the quake as far south as Spanish Fork and as far north as Evanston, Wyoming.
