San Jose Earthquakes announces partnership with Salinas Regional Sports Authority – KION546

Salinas, hurry up. (KION-TV): The San Jose Earthquakes on Friday announced a partnership with the Salinas Regional Sports Authority to help fund infrastructure improvements to the Salinas Soccer Complex.

It is important for the club to forge this partnership to continue growing the sport throughout Northern California, Earthquakes Vice President of Marketing Tutul Rahman said in a statement.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with the Salinas Regional Sports Authority in an effort to positively impact this community and grow a passion for soccer in Monterey County,” Rahman said in a statement.

The partnership will focus on protected seating and eight rows of aluminum bleachers at Field E, the complex’s primary venue for high-level competition.

Quakes will also have shade structures added by the Celebration Plaza Club to help shade guests from the elements.

All fixtures are expected to be complete and ready for the upcoming youth football season in March.

The Earthquakes goaltender and Salinas native Amy Ochoa are excited about this partnership happening. Ochoa fell in love with soccer while playing at the Salinas Soccer Complex as a kid.

“I remember playing in those stadiums and knowing how helpful it was for the football community to have that Earthquake support,” said Ochoa.

The team will also host a community engagement event for local families in the city which includes the Earthquakes X Salinas Kickoff Party at 201 Main. The event will take place at Oldtown Salinas on Friday, February 3rd.

There will be live music and giveaways, including performances by Salinas natives and current Earthquakes players Ochoa and Jerry Ayon. Monterey Bay coach Frank Yallop and assistant Ramiro Corrales will also appear during the kickoff event.

The event will kick off a big soccer weekend on the Central Coast. The Earthquakes will take on Monterrey Bay FC in a pre-season friendly on February 4th.
