The 5.9-magnitude earthquake in Pagura on Tuesday displaces 42 families.

According to DSP Surya Bahadur Thapa, 12 families from Rural Himali Municipality and 15 families from both Gaumul Rural Municipality and Badimalika Municipality were displaced due to the earthquake.

According to the Bajaura District Police Office, several houses were partially damaged while others were completely damaged.

Cracks occurred in some government buildings in the area due to the earthquake. Many private homes also had cracks and broken walls.

DSP Surya Thapa said the mud and stone houses have cracked and are uninhabitable. He said that police officials stationed in the district police office and police stations have been dispatched to the villages to collect details of the damage caused by the earthquake and according to the data collected, 58 houses were damaged, including government office buildings and private homes. .

To date, only one death has been reported. Jamuna Rukaya, 32, from Gomul Rural Municipality, died after being hit in the head by a rock and died on the spot, Thapa reported.

Police said the process of gathering details of the losses was underway.
