Bajura earthquake: 42 families displaced – The Himalayan Times – Nepal’s No. 1 English daily

Kathmandu, January 27

The 5.9-magnitude earthquake that hit Pagura district on Tuesday completely displaced 42 families.

Among the displaced families are 12 from Himali Rural Municipality, 15 from Gomul Rural Municipality and 15 from Padimalika Municipality, Deputy Inspector of Police Surya Bahadur Thapa said.

He said 12 affected families from Padimalika, four from Himali and 14 from Gomul are sheltering in the homes of their relatives, adding that another five affected families are living in tents and one family in a temple.

The district police office said about 400 houses were damaged in the quake. Thapa said that most of those affected by the quake at the local level are the Padimalika municipality.

The houses destroyed by the earthquake included 21 in Padimalika, three in Bodinanda, one in Budiganga, 19 in Himali, 11 in Gumul, four in Khaptad Shadidha and one in Swamikartik Khabar Rural Municipality.

The partially damaged houses included 31 in Padimalika, nine in Bodinanda, nine in Himali, five in Khaptad Shadidha and five in Gomul.
