A dog was found alive under the rubble five days after the devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit Turkey.

Elif Polat, a nurse working with the search and rescue team in the hard-hit Hatay province, said the dog was found about 138 hours after the earthquake struck in southern Turkey.

“It was a miracle because we were only removing the rubble and the bodies, and the dog was buried under the rubble with almost no gaps,” she said.

Video shows first responders pulling on the dog’s collar to help the pet get out of the rubble Saturday night. The dog was later seen wagging its tail.

“I think it’s difficult to estimate precisely because we need to slide under the rubble but I’m sure it will double or increase,” Griffiths told Sky News at the weekend. “This is terrifying. This is nature responding in a really harsh way.”
