An independent commission investigating sexual abuse of minors in the Catholic Church says it has documented the cases of at least 4,815 victims. He added that the commission created by the Portuguese Bishops’ Conference to examine the abuses of recent decades was the tip of the iceberg. When presenting the report, the president of the committee, child psychiatrist Pedro Strecht, stated that his goal was to “give voice to the silence” of the victims.
