Honolulu Residents: Was that an earthquake?

HONOLULU (KHON2) – Many people on the east side of Honolulu heard a loud bang and then a shake yesterday.

Many thought it was an earthquake, but according to the US Geological Survey, no earthquakes were reported during that time.

What sounded like a freight train and made the house shake makes many wonder what it was.

KHON has received many reports about the incident around 2:45 p.m. on February 16.

The Honolulu Fire Department responded to a call in New Valley after a resident reported hearing a loud bang and felt his house shake.

Hawaiians prepare for the storm

According to the HFD, there were no signs of a rock fall and no one was injured, so they closed the case.

KHON also reached out to the US military and they said it wasn’t him.

Along with the military, the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency said they had received calls about the incident and spoke with their partners but could not figure out what it was.
