Sydney rainfall: record rainfall brings flooding but mega-blight – BBC News

Sydney has experienced the heaviest rains in 30 years, spreading floodwaters and putting two massive fires in New South Wales.

The Australian weather agency said it has poured 391.6 mm of rain over the last four days in Sydney, more than three times on average since February.

About 100,000 homes are without energy, and officials have warned that flash flooding can be life-threatening.

But the rains still burn only 17 fires across the state.
