Magnitude 4.1 earthquake strikes Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir earthquake: A 4.1-magnitude earthquake hit Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday morning, the National Center of Seismology said. The earthquake occurred at 5:15 am at a depth of 5 km. Weeks ago, another earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale hit J&K.

No casualties were reported in the area so far. The longitude and latitude of the earthquake were reported as 35.06 and 74.49.

The National Seismological Center of India said: “Magnitude 4.1 earthquake, occurred on 04-30-2023, 05:15:34 IST, Latitude: 35.06 and Long: 74.49, Depth: 5 km, Location: Jammu and Kashmir, India.” Tweet.

It is noteworthy that, similar to the northeastern part of India, Jammu and Kashmir is also under a seismically active region. For this reason, J&K management decided to set up state-of-the-art Emergency Operation Centers (EOC) in all 20 provinces. This EOC will help in reducing the damages of natural disasters like earthquakes, floods, etc.

Construction of the EOC has commenced in Budgam district of Kashmir. Construction has started as per the National Disaster Management Plan (NDMP) 2019 and will be implemented in all regions.

The J&K Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to implement the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) to coordinate disaster calls on call 112.

Jammu and Kashmir witnessed some of the most devastating earthquakes in the past centuries. Reports say that the region has experienced about 14 devastating earthquakes in the past 10 centuries. In 1962, a strong earthquake of magnitude 6.2 struck J&K. The region was hit by another massive earthquake of magnitude 5.7 on the Richter scale in 2013. In 2017, a magnitude 7.5 earthquake killed 3 in the region.

View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier.
