A 5.3-magnitude earthquake shook Japan’s Goryeo region on Saturday, the US Geological Survey said.

The quake struck 54 km southwest of Goryeo, Japan, at a depth of 14.3 km. According to the USGS, the location of the quake was found to be at 29.995°N and 129.957°E, respectively.

No injuries have been reported so far, pending further details.

An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale on May 11 injured several people after it struck areas around Tokyo Bay early in the day, Kyodo News reported.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency and local authorities, the quake was also seen in areas including Chiba Prefecture and central Tokyo.

The agency also reported that the first quake, which occurred at 4.16 a.m., registered 5 highest on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in Kisarazu and 5 lower in Kimitsu, both in Chiba Prefecture, and 4 in areas including Chiyoda in Tokyo. However, no tsunami warning was issued.

The Japan Meteorological Agency has defined the High Five as a condition in which it is difficult for many people to walk. Since March 2012, it was the first time that Chiba Prefecture was rocked by a magnitude 5 earthquake, according to Kyodo News.

The roof tiles of three houses were dislodged and fell to the ground, while the building’s windows were cracked as a result of the shaking in Kisarazu.

Five elderly people were slightly injured in Chiba Prefecture. Two more were injured in neighboring Kanagawa Prefecture, where a woman fell at home and a man suffered head injuries after a light fell off a shelf while he slept.
