Disneyland tourists take shelter after a 6.2-magnitude earthquake in Tokyo

There were no reports of major damage caused by the earthquake.

A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck eastern Japan on May 26, according to Japan’s NHK. The quakes shook buildings in Tokyo and also affected surrounding prefectures. In the midst of this, a video of tourists at the country’s Disneyland hiding goes viral on the Internet.

The video was shared by Jeffrey J Hall on Twitter. The beginning of the video shows the feet of some people strolling in the park. Within a few seconds, an earthquake warning is heard on the loudspeaker. Then guests at Tokyo Disneyland have to crouch near the theme park docks and gather at the gift shop.

“It was a longer jolt than the ones we had a week or so ago, and a lot stronger,” said one user.

Another added, “Well, there’s a new fear unlocked.”

A third user shared, “It was annoying when we didn’t understand what was happening and what people were saying while walking and we finally felt it was a real earthquake moments later.”

“I was on the train and didn’t notice,” said one user.

Another user noted, “Permanent earthquake!”

According to a report in The Independent, there were no reports of major damage or casualties even though the epicenter of the quake was off the coast of Chiba and also affected Ibaraki Prefecture. No tsunami warning was issued.

It should be noted that Japan, which is one of the most seismically active countries, experiences earthquakes frequently. One-fifth of all global earthquakes of magnitude six or higher occur in the country.
