German Chancellor Angela Merkel has warned experts that 60-70% of the German population could be infected with coronavirus.

As there is no cure yet, governments need to focus on slowing the spread.

"When the virus is out, the population has no immunity and no therapy; then 60 to 70 percent of the population is infected," he told reporters in Berlin.

"The process should be focused on not overcompensating the health system by slowing the spread of the virus. It's about win time."
