PORTLAND, OR (KOIN) – More than two dozen small earthquakes were recorded over a 6-hour period on Mount Hood on Tuesday. A lot happened within minutes of each other.

According to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network, the seismic sequence began with a magnitude 3.0 quake at 2:35 p.m. The second largest of the 28 earthquakes recorded on the mountain was a magnitude of 2.6 detected one minute after the first quake at 2: 36 m

These two earthquakes were recorded by the USGS. However, other, smaller earthquakes, some of which had magnitudes as low as 0.2, were not recorded by the USGS.

The first quake, with a magnitude of 3.0, originated just south of the summit of Mount Hood. The second earthquake was near Timberline Lodge.
