Magnitude 5.4 earthquake hits Chenab Valley

Mahajan said that part of the suspended ceiling at Haderoah Sub-District Hospital (SDH) had fallen while a building for people with disabilities, two schools and five to six government buildings also had cracks in Doda.

He said two girls sustained minor injuries at Doda Government High School, after which they were taken to SDH Thathri for treatment.

Later, both of them are discharged from the hospital.

Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Doda, Sanjeev Kumar has directed all tehsildars in the district to submit details of damage to private and public property in their respective jurisdictions along with details of tents available in their offices.

DC Doda Vishesh Mahajan and SSP Abdul Qayoom visited Bhaderwah and parts of the district headquarters in Doda to assess the damage caused by the earthquake.

Some minor cracks have also been reported in government and private buildings from Gandhwa, Thathri and other areas.

All ADCs, SDMs, Tehsildars and Police Officers are on high alert and are in constant contact with the people while PRI members, Lumbardars and Chowkidars are assessing the situation and reporting to higher authorities.

DC urged people not to panic, remain vigilant, and report to the ADC, SDM, Tehsildar, or the DC office control room in case of any possibility.
