I had very emotional moments on Friday, June 23, 2023 and Saturday, June 24, 2023, when I visited the cities of Adana and Hatay in Turkey, both of which were among the other cities affected by the devastating earthquake. I witnessed many devastated communities and had personal interactions with those who lost loved ones, including the sad case of a doctor who lost his wife and children to the earthquake, but despite this, was still providing healthcare to other injured victims. In fact, my heart bled uncontrollably with constant thoughts of what more could be done to support my current resettlement and rehabilitation efforts. Despite the difficult working conditions, I saw healthcare teams led by doctors under the auspices of the Turkish Medical Association, happily providing care. displaced persons and earthquake victims.
