An earthquake hits Jayapura. The palace confirms that President Jokowi agrees

The Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) reported that a 5.0-magnitude earthquake hit Jayapura today at 11:25 WIB.

The quake occurred at a depth of 28 kilometers at coordinates 2.40 degrees south, latitude 140.07 degrees east. The epicenter was detected at sea, 42 km northwest of Jayapura regency.

Dariono, Head of the Earthquake and Tsunami Center at BMKG, stated that the earthquake does not have any potential to trigger a tsunami.
