Syrian war: Alarm with 33 Turkish soldiers killed in Idlib attack – BBC News
At least 33 Turkish soldiers have been killed in a clash with the Syrian government in northwestern Syria in a major escalation of the conflict.
Opposition Turkey says it has achieved 200 government targets in response, 309 "neutralizing" its troops.
Russia, a key Syrian military ally, says it has attacked Turkish troops in Idlib province, attacking Syrian forces along with jihadist fighters.
The EU has warned that the crisis may escalate.
"There is a danger of joining a large international military confrontation," said EU Foreign Policy chief Josep Borrell. "It is also creating unbearable humanitarian suffering and endangering civilians."
