UK reaffirms ban on extradition to Hong Kong as tensions with China rise – BBC News
Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab has shown growing tensions between Britain and China, confirming that the UK is suspending an extradition agreement with Hong Kong. It is a response to the implementation of a new security law aimed at ending political protests in Hong Kong. The UK has already offered Hong Kong citizens 3 million rights of residence, but China has accused the UK of making it a “violent problem” in its internal affairs. Hong Kong’s democracy campaigns that have fought against the implementation of the security law say the Chinese authorities are continuing.
