Aquaculture engineer and his friend spotted a 13-foot fish after it was washed on a Mexican beach on Sunday.

And seeing fish raised fears of an imminent earthquake as the same species was detected in Japan before the deadly Fukushima earthquake in 2011.

According to locals, fish is known as “seismic fish” and is seen days before earthquakes strike an area.

It was reported that Fernando Cavallin and David de Zabdorsky found rabbit-like fish in Bichelingo Bay, by Baja California.

A short clip, now circulated on social media, appears, Fernando and David standing at least a meter while catching fish in shallow waters.

Unfortunately, the fish were dead and in an “early decomposition phase” when Cavallin and David found them washed ashore.

“Fish protein is never wasted and there are other organisms that can benefit from ti in consuming it,” Cavallin told local media.

Seeing fish has become a popular legend after it was spotted before the Fukushima earthquake. This year, it was seen off the coast of Quintana Roo, just days before an earthquake struck the Mexican state of Oaxaca.

Since then, many conspiracy theories about seeing deep water fish have been published on social media.

A user wrote: “They are said to go out when they see a great earthquake, and a bad luck for those who find them, they generally die and don’t kill them.”

Another wrote: “These fish only appear to the surface when something very bad is about to happen, and it was always like this.”
