Earthquakes, Chris Wendolovsky is successful in the MLS Championship

A month ago, the future was a mystery to Chris Wendolovsky. He did not know how the NFL would return, nor did he know whether he would feel safe, how his team would perform, or how life would work in a bubble in Disney World.

But after a month in the earth bubble? So far, so good.

Earthquakes surprised many by winning their group and advancing to the knockout round of the MLS Is Back Championship. They will play Real Salt Lake in the round of 16 on Monday evening.

The victory ranked first in Group B, which started the tournament in disarray. “There were definitely some tense times,” said Wendolovsky. “We were here before those teams and we wanted our bubble to stay safe. It was very unfortunate, but I am very grateful that there have been no new tests now for more than a week.”

Like every team, earthquakes remain for themselves. They have their own area at Disney Swan and Dolphin Hotel, including their dining area and three shared rooms together that function as meeting rooms and team lounge. Sometimes they pass other difference in the hallway but other than that, there is not much interaction.

Players are tested every day. Currently, the virus is spreading in Florida. But if any worker, such as a person performing repairs, comes out of the bubble to his place, he must wipe it for a while to allow the area to be completely cleansed.

“The bubble feels very safe,” said Wendolovsky.

There is not much to do but training and teaming as a team. Since earthquake games take place in the evening, thanks to the West Coast audience, they also train at night.

“It is still hot at that time,” said Wendolovsky. “I am glad we do not have morning games.”

Training, video sessions and meals can take only long hours a day. The rest of the time Facetiming spends with his wife, Lindsey, and his two daughters – Emersyn, 6 and Brynlee, 4 – at home, they’re looking for something to watch (he said “I’m watching” Last Dance “again,” he said) and bonding with colleagues.
