Coronavirus: Californian docks for the Grand Princess – BBC News

Passenger boats caught by viruses in California have begun diverting boats off the coast of San Francisco for five days.

Nineteen crewmembers and two passengers from the Prince have been positive for Covid-19.

A vessel carrying 3,500 people from 54 countries has docked in Oakland.

The US has reported more than 607 coronavirus cases and 24 deaths. President Donald Trump said he was "blind" to the world.

Virus cases have been recorded in 34 states, including in Washington DC.

Some US politicians, including chief of staff Mark Meadows, who have recently been named president of the United States, are isolated after contacting a positive person.

In Bologna, people encounter their curious new reality.

A woman, a hotel near Piazza Maggiore, said the magnificent Basilica was mixed with what the government is doing.

"One day they say one thing, and the next day they do the opposite," he told the BBC. "One day they say we're in a terrible time, and the next day it's not so bad."

Tourism business, like so much in the commercial field, has been very successful. It should be high season, but the hotels here are in the desert.
