Multiple earthquakes were felt in Falls City in San Antonio

The city of San Antonio felt a series of earthquakes centered near Falls City early Saturday morning. Four earthquakes occurred between midnight and one in the morning, and the strongest was 4.7 on the Richter scale, according to the US Geological Survey.

San Antonio residents took to social media to report feeling the ground shake in the early morning hours. The quakes were felt as far away as Round Rock.

A total of 17 earthquakes were reported in the same area near Falls City, about 40 miles southeast of San Antonio, last week. This makes a total of 20 earthquakes greater than magnitude 2.0 during the month of February in the area around Falls City.

Experts have linked several earthquakes in Texas to saltwater disposal wells, where wastewater and chemicals from hydraulic fracturing are pumped into the ground.
