Japanese heroes join charitable donations for earthquake » March 1, 2024

Twenty former world champions from Japan took part in a charity event to solicit public donations to support victims of the devastating New Year's Day earthquake at the Triathlon World Championships at Ryogoku Sumo Arena on February 24. The earthquake occurred horribly with more than two hundred unfortunate deaths on the northern Noto Peninsula, where destroyed homes and buildings are still under construction. The World Champions League, now headed by former WBC lightweight champion Tsuyoshi Hamada as successor to WBC lightweight champion Jutz Ichimatsu, has launched this campaign for boxing fans to fund donations for victims and evacuees in temporary housing in Ishikawa Prefecture. The former champions had several donors pose for photos on behalf of their donations in the arena prior to the tripleheader.
