An earthquake has been confirmed near the South Carolina state capital on Saturday morning.

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded a 2.8-magnitude earthquake about 3 miles underground just before 9:30 a.m. near Elgin in Kershaw County.

No damages or injuries were reported.

This is the third earthquake to hit the Palmetto State this year, all of which were in the District of Columbia.
