Today's Earthquake: Panic gripped the people of Afghanistan when a strong earthquake struck the country on Sunday evening. An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale struck Afghanistan at 7.59 pm (local time), said seismological agency the National Seismological Center.

According to the National Center for Statistics, the epicenter of the earthquake was reported at a depth of 169 kilometers in Afghanistan. The earthquake occurred at latitude 36.66 and longitude 71.43. No loss of life or damage to property has been reported so far. But the strong tremor caused shock among the residents.

This comes four days after a strong earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck Afghanistan and parts of Pakistan. The authority said in a statement that the earthquake occurred at approximately 8:54 pm at a depth of 146 kilometers, at latitude 36.28 and longitude 70.25. It is worth noting here that the earthquake that struck Afghanistan led to mild tremors in the Indian region of Jammu and Kashmir.
