Boris Johnson makes PM as first statement – BBC News

 



The new prime minister is making a statement to the Commons after his first Cabinet meeting.
Speaking to MPs, Boris Johnson has said his government will throw energy into Brexit negotiations.
He said other arrangements for the protection of Northern Ireland were "fully compatible, of course, with the Belfast agreement that we are constantly committed to."
Michael Gove said that Brexit without agreement would be "a top priority".
He also assured EU citizens of their right to live in the UK with "complete assurance".
On Thursday, for the first time, he addressed his cabinet as prime minister.
