Xiamen earthquake hero student receives scholarship

A high school student in China received a 5,000 yuan (RM3,276) scholarship after carrying his disabled classmate to safety during an earthquake on April 3, Sin Chew Daily reported.

On that day, the coastal city of Xiamen, located on the southeastern coast of China next to the Taiwan Strait, was hit by a 7.2-magnitude earthquake that struck the city of Hualien on the eastern coast of Taiwan.

When the students were ordered to vacate their classrooms, high school freshman Zhang Zhi Sun immediately grabbed his disabled classmate, known as Lily, and carried him.

Lily suffers from muscular dystrophy and needs a wheelchair to get around.

Once it was safe to return to their classrooms, a teacher played CCTV footage of Zhang's actions, drawing applause and praise from his classmates.

A surprised Zhang said he was just doing what he was supposed to do.

“I didn't want to leave Lily behind. That's why I picked him up and we ran away together.”

The Alibaba Foundation awarded Zhang the scholarship for his courage.

Hong Kong actress Cecilia Cheung appears to be upset by news that her teenage son is dating a woman 29 years her senior, Sin Chew Daily reports.

Her eldest son Lucas Tse, 17, was recently photographed grocery shopping with the 46-year-old personal trainer.

There was talk that the couple was living together.

This was said to have angered Cheung so much that she ended up being hospitalized.

Lucas's father, actor Nicholas Tse, had an on-off relationship with a singer 11 years his senior.

Cheung and Nicholas divorced in 2006, and they have two sons.

Cheung, 43, gave birth to a third son in 2018 with another man, whose identity she did not reveal.
