New Isle of Man Ferry Offers “More Space for Passengers”

The new ferry will be in service in the spring of 2023.
Operators say the new ferry, which operates on the route between Isle of Man and Lancashire, has “substantial passenger space.”
Mark Woodward, Chief Executive Officer of the Steam Packet Company on the Isle of Man, said passenger and freighters will be in service in the spring of 2023.
He said the ship, which will be built in South Korea, will have more “maneuverability in poor conditions.”

“Newbuildings are expected to be slightly larger than Ben Me Cree in most respects, but they add significantly to passenger space,” he said.
“It is also intended to be more environmentally efficient and able to operate in adverse conditions.”
Both Ben-my-Chree and Manannan were launched in 1998
The cost has not yet been confirmed, but the ferry company had previously said it would cost at least £70m to replace both Benmy Cree to Haysham and Mannannan to the Liverpool route.
