Taiwan was hit by a series of at least 10 earthquakes in the early hours of Saturday, the strongest of which measured 6.1, according to the island's Central Meteorological Administration.

A total of ten earthquakes of varying strength were recorded after midnight on Saturday, according to the Taiwan Meteorological Agency.

The National Fire Agency said there were no immediate reports of damage.

This wave comes after buildings in Taiwan were left shaking at the beginning of the week due to a series of earthquakes, one of which reached a magnitude of 6.3 in the eastern city of Hualien.

The government said they were aftershocks from a deadly 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck the island more than two weeks ago, and Taiwan described it as “the strongest in 25 years.”

At least 17 people died after the quake triggered landslides that closed roads and severely damaged buildings around the main city of Hualien.
