Solstice: The earth is reaching its turning point

Subscribe to BBC News www.youtube.com/bbcnews The hemisphere that tilts in the sun has summer and the hemisphere that is far from the sun has winter. The solstice is the moment when one hemisphere of the world reaches the point where it is most inclined to the sun and the other when it is bent into the distance. After this moment, the Earth will begin a six-month journey to the next solstice, moving the opposite season to the northern and southern hemispheres. While it is the winter solstice of one hemisphere, it is the summer solstice of the other hemisphere. In the UK the solstice is a little until 11pm on 21 December this year; however, all GMT in the western east is December 22, so the date of the solstice depends on where you are on the planet.
