After more than five weeks of trial, former President Donald Trump has been convicted of falsifying business records in his first criminal trial. It is the first time in history that a former US president has been tried for a crime. The 12 jurors deliberated unanimously for two days – the court heard from 22 witnesses over six weeks, including Stormy Daniels, whose alleged sexual relationship with Trump was at the center of this case. Trump was accused shortly before the 2016 election of concealing a payment made by his former lawyer to buy the former adult film star's silence, a charge he pleaded not guilty to and alleged without evidence that the charges were politically motivated.
