That’s what happened after the Beirut explosion
Authorities declared Beirut a “catastrophic city” on Wednesday after a huge explosion in the Lebanese capital’s port left at least 135 dead and 5,000 wounded. The death toll is expected to rise amid continued search and rescue efforts. Many people were missing and exploded the next day, and 300,000 have been relocated from their homes. The city’s emergency services, which were already plagued by the Covid-19 pandemic, were working at lower capacity after four hospitals were damaged. The shockwave wave of the explosion damaged the building 10 kilometers (6 kilometers) away. The warehouse, which stores thousands of tons of safe and non-volatile chemical compounds, has emerged as a possible source of the explosion. It is not yet known exactly what caused the riots that wiped out all the streets, but on Wednesday the authorities asked whether they should act on the warning signs. Prime Minister Hassan Diab said 2,750 metric tons of nitrate nitrate (usually used as an agricultural fertilizer) had been in a warehouse in the port of Beirut for six years without security measures, “endangering the safety of citizens,” the statement said. #Beirut #CNN #Notes.
