News of an earthquake in parts of Nairobi

Some Nairobi residents reported feeling mild earthquakes on Wednesday afternoon.

Several sites that track earthquakes and tremors around the world, including Earthquake Monitor, said an “earthquake-like event” was detected near Nairobi at around 1.25pm.

A number of X users said they felt the tremor. “Did you just have an earthquake?” Subtract one.

“Has anyone witnessed an earthquake?” Another asked: “On Riara Road.” I felt an earthquake 4 minutes ago.

By Wednesday evening, reports of the earthquake remained unconfirmed by either the national or international seismological agency.

The closest confirmed ground movement to Kenya was a 5.1 magnitude earthquake in Huila, Angola, as reported by Quakes Today.
