Tremors hit Palakkad and Thrissur on 2nd day, Thrissur, Palakkad, earthquakes, tremors

Thrissur: Mild earthquakes occurred in parts of Palakkad and Thrissur early morning on Sunday. The accident occurred around 3:56 a.m.

Residents of places like Kunnamkulam and Chundal said the quake lasted only a few seconds.

These areas witnessed mild tremors yesterday as well.

A magnitude of 3.0 on the Richter scale was recorded on Saturday, with tremors felt in areas including Kunnamkulam, Chavakkad, Guruvayur, Kechiri, Kotul, Kadavallur, Akikavu, Kadangudi and Erumapeti.

Local residents said they experienced a short but intense tremor accompanied by a loud noise, prompting some to leave their homes in panic. However, no damages have been reported so far.

Yesterday, a similar incident was reported in Palakkad as well, where tremors were felt in Vellore, Mundur and Thirumitakkud districts, which was also accompanied by loud noise.

The earthquake lasted for about three seconds without any negative incidents.
