Iran News: An earthquake hits Kashmir, leaving four dead and more than 120 injured

A 5.0 magnitude earthquake struck Kashmar district in Iran's Khorasan Razavi Province on Tuesday, June 18, causing massive damage and loss of life. The epicenter of the earthquake, which occurred at 1:24 pm local time, was between Kashmar and Khalilabad, north of Kasrina village, at a shallow depth of 6 kilometers.

According to state media reports, the earthquake killed at least four people and injured more than 120 people. Of the injured, four are reported to be in critical condition, and 35 people are currently receiving treatment in hospital. Hojatollah Shariatmadari, the governor of Kashmir, confirmed that two of the deaths occurred due to the collapse of the facade of a building in the city, while the other two dead were from the village of Zindjan, where a residential building collapsed.

The Institute of Geophysics at the University of Tehran recorded the earthquake at 1:24:46 pm on June 18. The Global Seismological Network also reported the earthquake, noting that it occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, approximately two kilometers from Kashmar. A secondary tremor with a magnitude of 2.7 occurred at 1:58:20 p.m., adding to the distress of the region.
