A 3.5-magnitude earthquake strikes Suntpur, Assam India News

An earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale jolted Suntebor on Saturday (8 Aug). According to the National Center of Seismology, the earthquake happened at 5:26 a.m. on Saturday.

On July 16, an earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter Kremjang scale struck Assam at 7:57 am, according to the National Seismology Center, the government agency that monitors seismic activity in the country.

A moderately severe earthquake measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale hit the Sikar region of Rajasthan at about 00.44 hours on Friday (7 August). The agency said the quake occurred 26 km from Sikar.

Meanwhile, the flood situation in Assam improved further on Friday as water receded from four other provinces and currently 12,528 people and 5,375 hectares of farmland were affected in six districts, according to a government bulletin.

Floodwaters from Bongaigon, Goulbara, Kamrup and Nagaon districts have receded since Thursday, when the disaster struck 84,100 people in 177 villages in 10 provinces.
