Andrew Cuomo: NY schools will be able to reopen in class

School districts around New York State are opening, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a phone conference. Schools in New York and across the country closed in the spring due to the coronavirus pandemic. The state has become the initial global epicenter, but since then infection rates have dropped considerably. “Today is the time to look at and determine infection rates. According to our infection rates, all school neighborhoods can be opened anywhere in the state,” Cuomo said. “Each region is below the set threshold.” Plans to reopen this week were to be presented to each region. The state has 749 districts, and said 127 of them have not yet submitted a plan. If infection rates are projected before they reopen, Cuomo said, officials can review the plans. “I’ve been scared away by calls from parents and teachers and there’s a high level of anxiety and worry,” Cuomo said. Local officials will decide on plans to reopen the district. Cuomo’s decision means that New York City schools (the largest district in the country) have a green plan to study a person several days a week. #CNN #Notes
