Germany gun attack: two dead in Hall – BBC News

At least two people have been killed in a shootout in the eastern German city of Halle, police say.

Police say one person was arrested, but another suspect is believed to have fled in a vehicle.

The shootings took place in the Paulus area. Witnesses reported that a gunman wore military camouflage and several weapons.

One witness told a n-tv news station that a gun in a camouflage opened fire at a Doner kebab store.

"The man approached the Doner store. He threw something like grenade. He did not explode. He opened fire with an assault rifle. The man behind me was to be killed … I hid in the toilet," a witness told a TV reporter near the scene.

German media reported that the shots were also fired near a Hall synagogue, but details have not been confirmed.

A witness said an attacker threw an oil bomb or grenade over a graveyard wall.
