4.1 magnitude earthquake hits central Nevada

AUSTIN, Nev. (KOLO) – Updated 6:10 p.m.: The earthquake's magnitude has been revised to 4.1. It is now 2.9 miles deep.

The site is now located 19 miles closer to Austin, putting it about 10 miles east of Austin.

ORIGINAL STORY: A 4.3 magnitude earthquake struck central Nevada Saturday afternoon less than two miles north of U.S. Highway 50, about halfway between Eureka and Austin.

The Nevada Seismological Laboratory said the quake struck at about 4:35 p.m. north of Summit Mountain.

The depth is listed as one-tenth of a mile.

The report was reviewed by a seismologist.

They didn't feel it, said Sarah Hruby, owner of Grandma's Pizza in Austin.

“Our building was built in the 1870s, and if it had been shaken too hard it wouldn’t have been good,” Hruby said.
