Should New Yorkers prepare for more earthquakes? It shook two parts of New York State just days apart.

Many New Yorkers woke up Saturday morning to their homes shaking.

Earthquake in Henderson, New York

The U.S. Geological Survey confirmed the quake. The quake struck near Henderson, New York, at about 3:45 a.m. Saturday.

As of this writing, nearly 1,000 people have reported to the USGS that they felt the earthquake.

3.4 magnitude earthquake hits Jefferson County, New York

Henderson is located in Jefferson County, New York, close to Lake Ontario.

Officials say the earthquake measured 3.4 magnitude. The US Geological Survey classified the incident as a fourth earthquake with “light” damage.

This is the second earthquake to hit New York State in the past week. On Wednesday, a small earthquake was confirmed in Dutchess County.

The 2.1 magnitude quake was felt by residents of the town of Poughkeepsie, located between Camelot Road and Chief Road.

A 4.8 magnitude earthquake shakes New York State
