Another reminder – the San Diego Department of Transportation is preparing to begin work on the Admiral Way Bridge earthquake safety project. Crews will begin work under the bridge at Vermont Ravine, so Vermont Avenue will be closed to traffic under the bridge for the duration of the project – which is expected to last about eight months. As we reported last week, here's the approximate location of the road closures:

As project spokesperson Dr Matthew Howard explained, “There will be barriers at the bottom of the hill in southwest Prince, at the top in southwest Forest, and then another set down in the actual work area, with fencing. There will be no traffic as the work will be done on the bridge structure with cranes and equipment blocking the road.” Later in the summer – probably not before August – the upper portion of the bridge (which is actually two bridges) will see lane closures, as well as a full weekend closure.
