Trump shooting: New video shows police warned nearly 2 minutes before shots fired | BBC News

BBC Verify has examined video which shows police warning of a threat against Donald Trump almost two minutes before Thomas Matthew Crooks fired from the roof of a building at a rally in Pennsylvania. Mr Trump narrowly survived the assassination attempt after the gunman climbed onto a roof 130 meters from the podium where the former president and Republican nominee was speaking. It is the job of the US Secret Service to protect sitting and former presidents. Somehow, one gunman managed to break through the security perimeter with a rifle and reach a high position next to Mr. Trump. Video of the attack shows that members of the crowd alerted police of the gunman's threat at least 1 minute and 45 seconds before he opened fire. Firearms officers reportedly reacted to the threat only after Thomas Crooks began shooting, at which point snipers shot him dead on the roof of another building.
