Earthquake today: A 3.2 magnitude earthquake struck Lahaul and Spiti districts of Himachal Pradesh at 9:45 am on August 2, the National Centre for Seismology said.

The Earthquake Department reported that the tremors were felt by residents of the area, and that the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of five kilometers. There were no reports of injuries or damage to property.

In the first six months, natural disasters caused $120 billion in damage. The development comes as meteorologists predict the most active hurricane season in recent years. Wildfires raging from California to Alberta have had a profound impact on large parts of North America.

Meteorological, socio-economic and insurance data all point to a changing pattern of risks associated with extreme weather events, Munich Re said.
