OCE Ark operations manager Dean Reid told Yahoo News Australia he felt a “sharp back and forth jolt” in his car.

“I was about to get out of the car to go to Aldi when the car shook,” he said.

“I didn't really know what it was. I thought I had already imagined it, because it happened so quickly.”

Reed explained that the shaking was over within two seconds, but he could see a power pole swaying in the distance.

“I'm out” [of the car] I looked around the parking lot, and everyone was acting normal.

“I went in and did my whole shopping, then I went to the last aisle at Aldi, and they stopped me from getting off, and I didn't really know why.

“At the checkout they said, ‘Oh, it's closed because the roof fell in during the earthquake,’ and that's when I started putting everything together.”
