Neighbours say explosion felt like 'earthquake'

RAGLE, La. (KPLC) – Residents of the area where a home explosion Saturday killed one person and injured several others say the blast was devastating.

What was supposed to be a fun weekend for the Ragley family turned into something unimaginable.

Just before 10 a.m. Saturday, Beauregard County Sheriff's officers and Beauregard County Fire District 2 firefighters responded to a home explosion in the 1100 block of Pauline Road.

We spoke to some residents who live near the area and they told us the explosion sounded like an “earthquake.”

They also said that the electricity was cut off, their house shook, and many things fell to the ground.

Much of the debris was scattered several feet away from the crash site, including rocks, clothing, and even shoes. Vehicles were completely destroyed.

The Louisiana Fire Marshal tells 7NEWS that the house explosion killed a 16-year-old and injured five others. Their condition is unknown at this time.
