LAKE COUNTY NEWS, Calif. – Strong earthquake, followed by aftershocks, hits south county early Saturday

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – A series of earthquakes struck parts of Lake County Saturday morning.

The first and largest quake was a 4.3-magnitude tremor in Sonoma County at 7:30 a.m., the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The U.S. Geological Survey said it received 236 reports of earthquakes during that quake. One of the reports came from San Diego.

Several Lake County residents reported on Facebook that the quake shook them strongly.

A minute later, a 3.1-magnitude aftershock struck to the northeast of the first quake, this time just inside Lake County. The quake generated five reports of tremors, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

A second aftershock of magnitude 2.5 was recorded at 7:32 a.m. near Cobb, also in Lake County, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The US Geological Survey said that aftershock, like the first, resulted in five reports of tremors.
