An earthquake struck the island of Bali and Lombok on Saturday, the Indonesian meteorology agency said.

JAKARTA – An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale struck parts of Bali and West Nusa Tenggara on Saturday, September 14 at 09:31 local time. According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, the epicenter of the quake was in the sea 50 kilometers southeast of Kuta, Bali, at a depth of 85 kilometers.

Tremors at level 2 and 3 on the MMI scale were felt in Mataram, West Lombok and Central Lombok. At this level, tremors can be felt indoors as if a truck is passing. Meanwhile, the intensity of the tremors in Gianyar, Badung, Denpasar and Karangasem was recorded at level 2 on the MMI scale. The Bali-Lombok earthquake is the second earthquake felt in the Indonesian region today. The first quake was felt in Pacitan, East Java. The 4.9 magnitude quake was a follow-up to the 5.8 magnitude Gunungkidul earthquake on August 26.
