Frank Rivetta, Northern California seismologist, dies at 96

A famous earthquake expert has died in the north of the country.

Frank Revetta, a professor of geology at the State University of New York at Potsdam for five decades, died Sunday at the age of 96.

Revita operated and monitored seismic stations across the north of the country, which had higher seismic activity than many believed. The media contacted Revita every time there was an earthquake in the area.

Revita also managed the Old Planetarium at SUNY Potsdam, which celebrated its 60th anniversary this year. In 2016, our news intern Joey Dugan visited and produced this story.
