The Government Council on Thursday adopted Draft Decree No. 2.24.766 amending and supplementing Decree No. 2.02.177 approving the Earthquake-Resistant Construction Regulations (RPS 2000) applicable to buildings, defining earthquake resistance rules and establishing the National Earthquake Engineering Commission.

Mustapha Baitas, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Relations with Parliament and Government Spokesperson, said during a press conference following the Council meeting that this project, presented by Ms. Fatima Zahra El Mansouri, Minister of National Land Use Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and City Policy, is part of the national effort to address the repercussions of the earthquake that struck Morocco on September 8, 2023, especially with regard to the reconstruction of the affected areas.
