A minor earthquake shook parts of Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and Vancouver Island early this morning.

The earthquake, recorded by the Canadian Seismological Service at a magnitude of 3.8, occurred around 4 a.m. northeast of Victoria in Haro Strait. Although no damage was reported, residents across the area felt a brief tremor, with some experiencing shaking sounds and vibrations that lasted for up to 10 seconds.

This event is a good reminder of the importance of earthquake preparedness, especially in a seismically active region like Metro Vancouver. Experts recommend reviewing your home's safety procedures (especially if you live in an apartment), and making sure you have emergency kits ready.
